With a printed collection of over 110,000 books, 730,000 electronic books, 58,000 electronic journals, and subscriptions to over 45 online databases, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is home to the biggest Francophone library in the Gulf Region. Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi demonstrates its commitment to accessibility and knowledge sharing by providing the public with free access to its world-class library and resources. This initiative allows community members, students, and researchers to explore a vast collection of books, academic journals, and digital resources, fostering a culture of learning and inquiry.

Collaborating with ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority)

Providing Lifelong learning opportunities to employees

Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University provides its employees with continuous lifelong learning experiences through trainings and programmes. In collaboration with ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority) a tailor-made programme of 3 levels designed by Sorbonne Abu Dhabi and Sorbonne Centre for Artificial Intelligence Faculty aimed at enhancing employees’ skills and expanding their impact by teaching them Machine Learning and Data Science skills and tools related to finance.

Accompanying ADIA in their high-school students’ selection process for sponsorship opportunities

Sorbonne Abu Dhabi was chosen as a partner of choice by ADIA to develop exams in Mathematic for high-school students applying to ADIA’s sponsorship programme, to ensure only the best students are retained.

In parallel, the University opened the ADIA summer school “Guided Tour of AI” to train high-school students sponsored by ADIA. These selected students had the chance to become university students for 10 days, receiving high-level knowledge throughout their classes, tutorials, activities, and taking advantage of the housing facilities, and sports building.

These activities are open to the community, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, immigration status, or gender as indicated in the Continuing Education Centre policy.

Bridging education and experience through internships

At The Career Centre, we promote internships that offer hands-on learning opportunities, bridging academic knowledge with real-world experience. These internships equip students with practical skills, foster personal and professional growth, and enhance employability. Through partnerships with leading organisations, students gain meaningful exposure to their chosen fields, building essential competencies for future career success and encouraging lifelong learning.

Ad hoc and programmed educational events open to the public

The Green Dictation

The event which was part of the university’s Go Green Initiative 2023, hosted over 140 French-speaking participants of different age groups. The topic of the dictation covered climate change and sustainability challenges which aimed to raise awareness about global environmental issues.
This event is part of a series of dictations held annually under different themes.

The Grand Oral

The Grand Oral is an annual educational event hosted by Sorbonne University every year inviting students to participate in workshops and is open to the public.

  • Integrating Indigenous’ Perspectives into Higher Education Curricula:
    This panel aimed to explore the integration of Indigenous perspectives and content into higher education. It facilitated discussions on educational experiences, effective pedagogical approaches, and contemplate an initial roadmap for curriculum development. The panel also addressed strategies for evaluating the impact of introducing Indigenous perspectives into university curricula.
