Growing globalization is leading to stronger identity impulses and a tendency for states to withdraw. This creates conflicting tensions in international relations, prompting a need for diplomatic reform to balance state interests and maintain global peace and security. Within this context, religion plays a dual and pervasive role, sometimes destabilizing inter-state relations while also offering potential pathways for conflict resolution. The emerging field of "theo-geopolitics" examines this dynamic. Religious diplomacy can foster dialogue in seemingly impossible situations, promoting tolerance and understanding when political positions are rigid. The messages from religious envoys often resonate more deeply with governments and citizens, as they convey wisdom and spirituality beyond mere political maneuvering. Ultimately, religious diplomacy emphasizes dialogue, prevention, and collaboration among various stakeholders, functioning as a strategic tool in foreign policy.
